Ikorodu City FC on Sunday claimed South West derby bragging rights, defeating defending champions Remo Stars FC 1-0 in a keenly contested Nigeria Premier Football League match.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports the 2025/2026 NPFL Match Day 19 fixture was at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Lagos.
It attracted a large and vocal crowd.
The Oga Boys broke the deadlock in the 40th minute when Alfred Odinaka fired a fierce half-volley into the bottom corner after a blocked free kick.
Ikorodu City pressed for a second goal through high-intensity counter-attacks, but Remo Stars’ defence stood firm to deny further scoring opportunities.
Speaking after the match, Remo Stars coach, Sulaiman Folarin, described the defeat as unfortunate, insisting his side deserved a better outcome.

Folarin said: “We are unfortunate not to have won this game because we came with the mindset of winning.
“The boys did their best, but a moment of lost concentration cost us dearly.
“We played well against Ikorodu City.”
