The Igbo Community Association, FCT, has acknowledged Vice President Kashim Shettima’s glowing accolades for the Igbo-speaking people at the Imo Economic Summit.
The Eagle Online reports that Vice President Kashim Shettima had praised the Igbo community for what he described as their unmatched contribution to Nigeria’s economic and social landscape.
Speaking on national unity and development at the recent summit, he described the Igbo as major stakeholders in the Nigerian project, pointing to their widespread presence and significant investments across the country.
VP Shettima highlighted their strong economic footprint in cities like Abuja and Lagos, noting that their entrepreneurial influence can be found in virtually every part of the nation.
Responding in a statement in a statement by its President General and Secretary General, Engr. Ikenna Ellis-Ezenekwe and Emmanuel Chinweoke Onah, respectively, the Igbo community said, “While we appreciate the recognition, we emphasize that actions speak louder than words.

“The Bola Tinubu administration’s policies, like previous ones, seem to perpetuate the marginalization of the South East region.
“The lack of significant investment in railway and seaport upgrades in the region is stark.
“Political appointments and employment opportunities also appear to bypass the South East, contradicting the administration’s rhetoric.”
Continuing, the group said, “We urge the administration to practice what it preaches, ensuring equal opportunities and development for all regions.
“The Igbo people are willing participants in Nigeria’s growth, seeking a level playing ground, not mere lip service.”
“It’s time for tangible actions that demonstrate the administration’s commitment to inclusivity and regional balance. We await concrete steps to address these concerns,” they added.
