The Chipolopolo of Zambia have emerged the winner of this year’s African Cup of Nations.
The Zambians defeated Cote d”Ivoire in a keenly contested match in Libreville.
The match, which ended goalless after regular and extra time, was decided by penalty.
Both teams scored the first six spot kicks.
But they both lost the seventh.
And while the Zambians went on to score their number nine kick, Cote d”Ivoire lost theirs.
Captain of the Elephants of Cote d”Ivoire, Didier Drogba, looked remorseful after the loss.
This was more because he had the opportunity during regular time to put his team ahead.
But he lost the penalty kick that was awarded his team.
This is the third time that the elephants will lose the African Cup of Nations in the final.
