Enugu State Police Command spokesperson, Daniel Ndukwe, has revealed that operatives from Abakpa Division with Neighbourhood Watch Group, have arrested one Daniel Aniude for allegedly robbing a lady (name withheld).
Ndukwe, a Superintendent of Police, said the suspect, with his accomplices, were intercepted while attempting to rob the lady.
“One imitation pistol was recovered during the operation,” said Ndukwe.
Following the arrest, the Anti-Robbery (D9) Section of the State CID arraigned Aniude in court and was remanded at the Nigerian Correctional Custodial Service.
Meanwhile, the Police added that they arrested one Uzor David, 25, on November 12, at the Nkanu East Division during a foiled armed robbery operation in Enugu.
According to reports, Uzor hired a commercial tricycle, which he used to carry out the operation.
However, in an attempt to escape, he snatched the tricycle from the owner, shot the tricyclist in the hand.
However, the operatives foiled the operation and arrested him on spot.
“The injured victim is receiving treatment and is in stable condition. The suspect will face court charges upon the conclusion of ongoing investigations”, noted Ndukwe.

In another development, operatives from the Emene Division, on December 10, 2024, foiled an armed robbery attempt at Upper Rehab, Emene, Enugu.
However, the robbers fled, leaving behind a locally made pistol and an expended cartridge.
Furthermore, another robbery attempt, which occurred on December 2, was reportedly stopped by the Abakpa Division in collaboration with the Neighbourhood Watch.
The suspects, according to available information, fled, leaving behind a locally made pistol and two live cartridges, which the police recovered.
Also, operatives from Enugu metro Area Command, on December 6, discovered a Beretta pistol hidden in a cassava sack at the Abakpa Junction in Enugu.
“A discreet investigation is ongoing to identify and apprehend those responsible”, Ndukwe disclosed.
