Nasarawa United Football Club says it parted ways with Kabiru Dogo, Head Coach of the club, because his contract had expired.
Isaac Danladi, Chairman of the club confirmed the development to the News Agency of Nigeria in Lafia on Wednesday.
Danladi told NAN that the separation was mutual, cordial, without any acrimony and that speculations on the social media that Dogo resigned should be disregarded.
He said: “His contract expired.
“That is what happened.
“He had a one season contract with us and it expired after we crashed out in the Federation Cup semis against Rangers.
“So the contract was not renewed because we did not offer a renewal and he did not expect a renewal.
“So in simple terms, we severed relationship.
“It is not true he resigned because if you say someone resigned, it means he has a subsisting contract, but in this case his contract expired.
“I emphasized on this because we read in the social media that he resigned, which is not true.”
Danladi, who didn’t elaborate on why a new contract was not offered to Dogo, simply said: “You don’t force an unwilling employer on an employee and vice versa.
“His contract expired and it was a mutual agreement to part ways.”
The Nasarawa United chairman assured the fans that plans were on to engage another head coach.
He said: “I want to assure the public that Nasarawa United always has a succession plan.
“Our succession plan is very much in place.
“In fact there is no vacuum as I speak to you now.
“At the appropriate time, we will comment on that.”
The coach also told NAN that he left because his contract with the club had expired.
Dogo said: “Nothing bad happened.
“I had a good working relationship with the management.
“I don’t have problem with anybody.
“It is just that my contract has expired, so I need to move forward.
“We had a mutual understanding.
“There was no problem.
“I just want to use this opportunity to advice the team to continue to remain focused and work hard.
“I also advice anyone coming to replace me to be prepared to work for the success of the team.”
