The Ekiti State Police Command has offered the reason why it arrested and is detaining human rights lawyer, Dele Farotimi.
Spokesman of the Command, Sunday Abutu, offered the explanation in a statement he issued in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital, on Tuesday.
Abutu said in the statement: “The Ekiti State Police Command wishes to inform members of the public that one Mr Dele Farotimi is undergoing investigation following a petition written against him to the Office of the Commissioner of Police, Ekiti State Command for an allegation of defamation of character and cyberbullying.

“He was arrested some hours ago based on a petition that was written to the commissioner of police (in Ekiti).
“The allegation is about defamation of character and cyberbullying.
“The command did not act out of place. We even got a court order; that is a warrant of arrest.”
