Chief Hycienth Ngwu, a former South East Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, says Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State was attracted to the APC due to President Muhammadu Buhari’s sterling infrastructure development in the country.
The ex-spokesman said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Enugu on Wednesday.
Ngwu said “the governor’s decision to defect from PDP to APC is a home-coming”.
He added: “It is an excellent testimony that the APC-led Federal Government, being spear-headed by President Buhari, is doing well by providing massive infrastructure developments across the country, especially in the South East States.
“By this action, the governor has finally settled with birds of a feather.
“It is without doubt that Governor Umahi is one of the best performing governors in Nigeria today.
“This move has joined him with his likes in good governance that abound in APC.”
The former APC spokesman said he had no doubt that other governors of the South East would soon join him in the APC.
According to Ngwu, politically, the South Easterners have always had good working relationship with Northerners.
He said: “I believe this move will rekindle this old relationship and bring out the best that will help in making the 2023 General Election an election that will unify and make all geopolitical zones happier in one Nigeria.
“I join millions of APC supporters in the South East to welcome Governor Umahi.”
Ngwu said Umahi had really proved his selfless love to the yearnings of the South East by this defection.
He added: “It beats my imagination to think that some of my people still believe in PDP that has shut the doors against our political desires in spite of our having thrown all our political weight to them in the past 20 years.”
