My friends and professional colleagues have been asking why I ventured into politics due to my level of integrity, transparency, fairness and commitment to human development which is very rear in the current political atmosphere of our dear country. I will like to share my response to this question with other friends, colleagues, schoolmates, community leaders, elites, students, market women, farmers, artisans and other class of people in the society. Nigeria as a country has adopted a civilian system of government that is anchored on politics which means Nigerian way of life will be determined by politicians irrespective of your education, exposure, business acumen etc.
Every Nigerian will agree with me that this country has not been fearing better since the advent of democracy in 1999. The reason for this is not farfetched as we are still having the same set of people that were with the military government in civilian government. The same set of people in government since 1999 are still in government today, the late ones are being replaced by their children and relatives.
Nigerians with a pure mind for service are being scared with the way politics is being played in Nigeria. They fear being killed, they are scared of being robbed of their hard-earned resources, they are scared of being tagged as part of this corrupt system.
My question to them which I am directing to you here is are you saying Nigeria should be left the way it is now?
Are you saying the people that put us in this mess should continue to destroy this nation?
Are you saying the children of common man should not have access to better education because you can send your children to private schools for now?
Are you saying the poor should die of little ailment that can easily be cured of if our primary health care is functioning well?
Another question to ask is whether we all realise the power in Government Policy? Irrespective of your academic and professional background and qualification, irrespective of your sound corporate objectives and policy, irrespective of your good business plan, government policy is there to either promote or mar all your life endeavour within a second. It is that sensitive and critical part of our life we are leaving in the hands of professional politicians because we fear being killed.
What kills more than what we are experiencing now in Nigeria? You leave the government in the hand of people whose interest is not for service but to enrich their pocket and feed fat on your resources. You are leaving government policy for people who have no integrity. People that had been convicted of stealing our resources by public opinion.
Our brothers and sisters in diaspora are not even helping matter despite what they are seeing in the land they reside, they are still analysing Nigeria politics in favour of these people who were nobody before 1999 and are now public figures and billionaires in the name of politics.
The solution to all the aforementioned is for all of us to begin to actively participate in politics because our life and fate lies in it and cannot be left in the hands of these political businessmen any longer.
Another question that comes up is would they allow us to participate because they have the power and the money to buy votes and even rig the election to their favour?
People are already tired of these set of people. They are waiting for you just to make yourself available for service to humanity and see if you will not defeat them with all their money.
Being a revolutionist who believes that the only revolution that can work at this time is ballot revolution as power belongs to the people.
In a nutshell, my reason for coming into politics is for service to humanity and a revolutionary move through ballot to bring good governance into bear in our country which will start from Oriade/Obokun Federal Constituency in Osun State if my people give me the opportunity to represent them come 2019 and bring representation back to them.
. Odunayo, popularly known as Kenyatta, is the candidate of Accord party for Oriade/Obokun Federal Constituency of Osun State.
