The Senate Leader, Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, on Sunday maintained that he would not be part of the rescheduled Peoples Democratic Party’s Ward Congresses for Cross River State holding on Monday.
The Leader of the Senate disclosed this in a statement he personally issued and signed in Abuja.
Ndoma-Egba pointed out that taking part in the exercise would amount to sub-judice.
The senator observed that there were pending litigations before a Federal High Court in Abuja and a Cross River State High Court over the ward congresses organised by the PDP on November 1.
He pointed out that the courts had issued hearing notices to all the parties to the suit that judgement would be delivered on November 24 before the congresses were rescheduled for November 24.
According to him: “I am a lawyer of thirty-six years standing, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria and Leader of the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, which is the country’s’ highest law making body.
“I therefore will not do anything to undermine the sanctity of our judicial process and the judiciary.
“Our institutions are far more important than my personal ambition, indeed any persons ambition.
“Our democracy will never be complete without the rule of law. We must therefore give the Judiciary her place and respect.
