The autopsy of Whitney Houston revealed she did have water in her lungs when she died, but the medical examiner needs to determine exactly how much before they can rule whether she died as a result of drowning, law enforcement sources tell TMZ.
The autopsy was concluded late last night but there is a need for a toxicology report to be able to determine the exact cause of death.

As TMZ first reported, authorities believe Houston may have fallen asleep or lapsed into unconsciousness in the bathtub and drowned.
But according to our sources, authorities cannot yet determine whether Houston died before she was submerged in the water or after.
We’re told there is still a possibility Houston was dead before she went under the water.
Toxicology results will be back in four to six weeks.
And in the wake of the death of Houston, family members fear that her daughter, 18-year-old Bobbi Kristina Brown, might be suicidal and are considering getting her help, TMZ has learned.
As TMZ first reported, Bobbi Kristina was taken to the hospital once on Saturday and again on sunday morning.
We’ve been told she was “hysterical, exhausted and inconsolable.”
Sources close to the family tell TMZ the family believes she might try and take her own life.
According to one source, the family feels Bobbi Kristina needs help and they are considering rehab as an option.
Bobbi got into it with cops last night after she was barred from seeing her mother’s body.
Meanwhile, with the death of ex-wife, Whitney Houston, and his daughter, Bobbi Kristina, in the hospital, sources close to Bobby Brown tell TMZ he is on his way to Los Angeles be with his daughter and skipping a concert to do so.
According to our sources, Bobbi Kristina has not been alone since her mother passed, she’s had Bobby’s family by her side the entire time.
New Edition had a concert on Sunday on Sunday night in Nashville, but we’re told Bobby skipped the show so he could get to Los Angeles to be with Bobbi Kristina.
Brown was spotted at the airport in Nashville with an entourage of people by his side.
As TMZ first reported, Bobbi Kristina has been in the hospital twice since Whitney passed away.
At the 2012 Grammy Awards, the host wasted no time addressing the passing of Whitney Houston, leading the star-packed audience in a prayer in her honour.
Immediately after, LL showed a clip of Whitney singing “I Will Always Love You” at the Grammys back in 1994.
Jennifer Hudson performed a musical tribute to Whitney later in the show.
According to Us Magazine, JHud broke down crying while rehearing earlier in the day and had to restart her number several times before she could finish it.
