The above is indeed the question coming from the house stead of Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, the former president of Nigeria. And it is being asked seven years after he lost his official wife, Stella Obasanjo. After Stella’s death, the elder statesman secretly got married to another woman, a divorcee called “Mama Funsho”.
The marriage, which was a hush-hush affair, was witnessed by just a handful of his family members. The woman in question is yet to have a child for Obasanjo after six years of marriage. Sources privy to Obasanjo’s union with Mama Funsho disclosed that his children, led by ex-Senator Iyabo Obasanjo-Bello, prevailed on him to take a wife because they were not happy about his liaisons with some famous society ladies.
Obasanjo’s children were reported to be particularly peeved with a popular Lagos-born princess, who forcefully positioned herself as Obasanjo’s unofficial wife. The said woman, who is believed to enjoy liaisons with white men, is in her early 60s and was said to have become a permanent feature in his life.
However one of Obasanjo’s children, Funke, was reported to have sacked her and barred her from her father’s home. It was after this incident that the children came together and decided to marry a wife for their father.
Invariably, after a careful search and screening of the women in their father’s life, Obasanjo’s children decide to settle for the said Mama Funsho. The woman is said to be performing her role very well as she cooks his meals, hosts his guests and carries out all other wifely roles.
