Some details of the cordon of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja and its satellite towns for the World Economic Forum for Africa have emerged.
The President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, had on Sunday directed all government offices and public schools to remain shut during the WEF holding from Wednesday to Friday in Abuja.
In addition to that, the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar, announced the cordon of Abuja and the satellite towns by security agents beginning from Monday.
Those wishing to be within Abuja city during the WEF for Africa have been given further details of the security plans in order to help them plan their movement.
According to the update on Tuesday, there will be traffic blockade and diversion along the following locations:
a. Head of Service (Bullet Building).
b. All roads leading to Eagle square.
c. All roads leading to International Conference Centre and Transcorp Hilton.
d. Benue Plaza and This Day Dome 2.
The update said in the same vein, security will be stepped up at all strategic locations and vulnerable points and strengthened at entry points (Bwari, Zuba, Gwagwalada and Nyanya/Mararaba axis), airports and highways as well as city roads, Hotels and the Conference Venues (Transcorp Hilton and International Conference Centre).
It urged those moving around to be vigilant in public areas and places, look out for anything suspicious and if anything is spotted for a report to be made to security personnel immediately.
It said many terrorist attacks are foiled by the vigilance of ordinary people.
