The two arms of the National Assembly – Senate and House of Representatives – on Monday adjourned its proceedings till September 2021 to enable members to go on summer break.
The Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila, who announced the break for the House, said they work too hard and needed the rest.
He, however, said the various committees of the Assembly will be working during the recess.
Gbajabiamila stated that the Internal Security and Finance Committees have the mandate of the House to continue working.
He said: “I want to wish all my colleagues happy recess.
“Let us go for recess and spend time with our families.
“We are not working, we need that break.
“For those of you who are workaholic who want to continue committee work because you are too passionate about your work, no, you need this break.
“Go and get yourself checked.
“Go and hang out with your wife and family.
“Some people with your wives and your 27 children.
“Just hang out with them and enjoy the summer.
“Internal Security, by the time we come back in September, certain things have to be put in place.
“Very important, so you and Finance have the mandate of the House to continue to work.”
