Mohammed Hussein, the Technical Adviser of FC Ifeanyi Ubah of Nnewi, has said that the team would not lose sight of its focus in spite of the club’s brilliant start to the Nigeria Professional Football Season season.
Hussein said: “There are so many games still to come in the season, so we won’t lose sight of the task ahead just because we got a win today; we have to redouble our effort.”
The club’s Media Officer, Iyke Nwokedi, made the technical adviser’s comment known on Monday in Lagos.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the Ifeanyi Ubah clinched a vital 1-0 away win against the NPFL newcomers Kada City, which now makes the team the league leaders in the Group B standings.
He said: “FC Ifeanyi Ubah on Sunday extended its scintillating run of form to five games unbeaten and five clean sheets as Chibuike Ezeh’s clinical finish in the 56th minute separated the two sides in a pulsating game played at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium Kaduna.
“This clash was reminiscent of the 2016 Federation Cup semi-finals clash at the same ground which saw the Anambra Warriors progress to the final with a 1-0 win against Crown FC.
“The technical crew kept faith with the team that defeated Yobe Desert Stars in midweek, except for Jimoh Gbadamosi who replaced injured Ikenna Cooper in the setup.
“It was really an end-to-end stuff and a very interesting football display from both sides in the 90 minutes of action.
“The Technical Adviser Huseini said that the victory over FC Ifeanyi Ubah could be attributed to hard work and commitment on the part of the players.
“I want to thank God for the victory today, this will surely strengthen our resolve to work harder and grind out points, especially on the road.
“The players have shown courage, discipline, hard work and commitment thus far.
“This game is over and we have a double header against Abia Warriors and Gombe United who are also doing well, so we have to prepare well for these matches.
“I want to use this opportunity to call on our supporters to continue to support us as this is a collective responsibility.”
Anambra Warriors now head back to their fortress for the double home header against Abia Warriors and Gombe United in Match Day 6 and 7 respectively.
