The Joint Task Force in Borno State said on Saturday that it killed five suspected terrorists after repelling an attack from them in Maiduguri, Borno State.
According to a statement by the spokesperson of the JTF, Lieutenant Colonel Sagir Musa, the terrorists attacked the JTF patrol team with an Improvised Explosive Devise on Friday, during which two soldiers and a teenager were wounded.
Musa said in the statement: “There was an IED attack targeted at JTF patrol team at Ruwan Zafi, Dikwa-Gamboru Road in Maiduguri by suspected Boko Haram terrorists.
“Fuel-propelled IED was used by the terrorists during the attack, which resulted to fire outbreak that burnt some adjoining shops.”
Sagir said normalcy had been restored in the affected area.
