We have raised governance bar in Imo – Okorocha

The Governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, has allayed fears that when he leaves office the projects, programmes and initiatives of his administration would not be sustained by successive governments.
Okorocha said anyone vying for the governorship of the state must be the people’s choice.
Okorocha declared this while briefing newsmen alongside the Minister of Information, Labaran Maku after the latter and other members of the National Good Governance Tour paid him a courtesy visit on Monday.
According to the governor, the people of Imo State would question any administration that fails to live up to their expectation.
He further stated that his administration’s offer of free education to Imo State children was a vision given to him by God, adding that education is the main industry in the state.
Maku urged the media to give full expression of what they see in Imo State to enable a proper assessment of development and progress.
Maku said unlike the 2001 Media Tour organized by the then Minister of Information, Prof. Jerry Gana, which graded states, the assessment of states this time around would be done by the people because the tour is fully covered, especially by the social media.
He said: “This tour is different from the one of 2001 though that programme was very commendable in restoring the confidence of Nigerians in democracy.
“The grading of states done during that tour caused a lot of grievances even when the assessment of some states were correct.”
