Members of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change in Adamawa State have said that they did not defect with Alhaji Buba Marwa to the Peoples Democratic Party.
The former state chairman of the defunct party, Alhaji Ibrahim Waziri, stated this on Wednesday in Yola at a meeting of former members of the party in the 21 local government areas of the state.
Marwa, who was the party’s gubernatorial candidate in the state, had on Sunday declared his defection to the PDP over claims of marginalisation of his people by the ruling APC in the state.
Waziri claimed that Marwa joined the CPC and had defected to the PDP they way he came.
Another stakeholder, Alhaji Suleiman Abdullahi, said the members wished Marwa well, but were concerned about his claims that members of the defunct CPC defected with him to the PDP.
“We would not have bothered to meet to disassociate ourselves from Marwa if not for his claims that members of the defunct CPC defected along with him,” Abdullahi said.
Also speaking on behalf of the youth, Alhaji Mustafa Salihu, said they were not with Marwa, as they were not satisfied with his allegations of marginalisation by the state APC.
Salihu advised Marwa to apologise for wrongly accusing APC leaders in the state of marginalising him and his supporters.
“In fact, we gave Marwa one week to apologise for wrongly accusing our party leaders or else we will exposed him,” Salihu said.
Speaking on behalf of the women, Hajiya Fatima Yawale and Rose Simon, said the APC members were not bothered about Marwa’s defection.
“He left with the same few people he came with when he defected to the defunct CPC from PDP,” they said.
