Walter Mazzarri will consult with the medical team to decide if Isaac Success is fit for the first home game of the season, admitting the forward provides him with flexibility as well as firepower.
The Nigerian powerhouse trained on Wednesday for the first time since injuring his hamstring against Lorient and comes into contention to face Chelsea on Saturday.
While Mazzarri will not want to rush back the club’s record signing, he knows Success possesses the raw pace this team was crying out for last season and that he has the goalscoring ability to complement, and put pressure on, Troy Deeney and Odion Ighalo, who scored 28 of the team’s 40 league goals last season.
“Success is a player with a lot of potential and this can help Deeney and Ighalo to work harder, knowing that there is one other player in their position,” said the head coach.
“There is the possibility for all three of them to play together, if the team allows.”
