The management of two leading sides in the Nigeria Premier League could be heading for war path over the transfer of players ahead of the new season.
On Wednesday, the Management of Warri Wolves frowned at what it called the unprofessional attitude of Enugu Rangers over the purported transfer of two of its players, goalkeeper Chigozie Agbim and Sunday Mba.
Contrary to the claim by the management of Rangers International, Warri Wolves insisted that the Super Eagles duo have not been cleared to play for the Enugu-based Club.
In a statement by the Media Officer of the Delta State owned outfit, Etu Moses, the action of the officials of the Enugu-based Club was totally faulted.
Moses said: “Rangers management action on the two players could be described as living in a world of illusion because as at today, they have not discussed the alleged transfer with any official of Warri Wolves.”
The Management of Warri Wolves, according to the spokesman, “therefore wishes to warn them that in as much as we are not ready to hold on to any player who wishes to move on in search of greener pastures, we implore any team interested in our player to toe the line of honour by contacting us before anything is done.
“I think those officials of Enugu Rangers are ignorant of the way things like this is done all over the world or may be they are trying to be smart but to us, they are fooling themselves. You can imagine a player like Sunday Mba whom we paid N7 million to sign but did not play more than six matches throughout last season wanting to go like that and Rangers are deceiving the world that they have signed him. It is rubbish and we implore them to re-trace their steps by doing the right thing. In other countries, you don’t even talk to a player without contacting their club but here they think they can do anything and go away with it. We are therefore informing the Nigerian Football League body to take note of the illegal action of Enugu Rangers as regards the two players.”
Meanwhile, the friendly match between Nembe City and Warri Wolves scheduled for Warri Township Stadium on Wednesday has been shifted to Thursday.
