The Muslim Community in Lagos Island, under the aegis of the Joint Muslim Forum, has condemned the viral video on social media in which a masquerade was seen solely performing prayer, and called for the arrest of the perpetrator.
The community called on the government to intervene promptly, urging Muslim faithful not to take laws into their hands.
These were contained in a press release e-signed by Ustaz Qamardeen Ajala on Thursday.
He called on the Lagos State Government and Commissioner, Lagos State Police Command to launch a thorough investigation into the matter and arrest those behind it.
Ajala insisted that even if it is clear in Islam that there is no compulsion in religion, it was wrong for anyone or group of people to portray Islam in bad light.

The disturbing incident, according to the release, is now causing tension among the Muslim Community and residents, adding that it occurred at Idunmota Bus Stop, Lagos Island last week Thursday.
Ajala said that the incident had been officially reported at the Zone 2 Police Command, Onikan.
The statement added that the unfortunate demonstration, which attracted a large crowd, was a provocative and deliberate attack on the adherents of Islam and the religion.
