Napoli forward Victor Osimhen has been adjudged as the best foreign athlete in Italy.
The Nigerian, who had already been awarded the Serie A player of the month for January, received the Power Horse Emerging Player of the Year Global Soccer Award.
The 24-year-old has shown his merit for this accolade through his goal-scoring form for Luciano Spalletti’s team as they pursued the Serie A title.
This season, the former LOSC Lille player has scored 19 goals and provided four assists in 21 domestic league outings for the Neapolitan side.
The Super Eagles talisman has distinguished himself as the best candidate for the award given by the Foreign Press Association in Italy.
As a result of this outstanding performance, his club announced it through their social media website.
The team tweeted: “@victorosimhen9 receives the award as ‘Best Foreign Athlete in Italy’ for @Stampa Estera.”
The Nigerian forward could have had a chance to show off more of his abilities on a global stage had his country qualified for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Yet, as more international competitions draw near, the Nigerian is proving his merit for more prestigious prizes, including the African Player of the Year title and maybe the Ballon d’Or.
