Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk will meet at Wembley Stadium in April, with a fight for the undisputed heavyweight championship of the world.
Exclusively revealed by the Daily Mail on Monday, the UK venue has been set following a failure of Saudi Arabian authorities to show sufficient progress in the construction of the Jeddah Stadium.
This means that Fury will once again defend his WBC title under the iconic Wembley arch having beaten Dillian Whyte at the home of English football on April 23 last year.
That fight was a sellout, with Fury winning via a sixth round knockout to retain his WBC and The Ring heavyweight titles.
Since then, Usyk has claimed Fury’s The Ring title, with his victory against Anthony Joshua in August seeing him awarded the belt following Fury’s multiple hints of retirement last year.
Usyk first claimed his WBA, IBF, and WBO titles with a win against Joshua in 2021 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and returns to north London following a rematch win in Saudi Arabia.
The winner of this fight against Fury will become the first undisputed heavyweight champion since Lennox Lewis in 2002 and as a result this will become a huge sporting event.
The fight has not yet been officially announced, with the deal still to be agreed and the multiple stakeholders in the form of the governing bodies who sanction the fight have not made any confirmation yet.
However, both boxers have made public hints regarding their interest in making a fight happen and the “undisputed” tag is without doubt an appealing prospect for both men.
