The Lagos State Police Command has assured residents of the state to go about their lawful duties, stressing that there is not truth in the report in some social media that the police had warned people to keep away from some areas in the metropolis.
In a press release, the Police Public Relations Officer, Kenneth Nwosu, said: “The attention of the Lagos State Police Command has once again been drawn to a false information making rounds in some isolated social media platforms claiming that the residents and visitors to Lagos have been warned by the Nigeria Police to be wary of some locations like; Estate Bus Stop at Ketu-Alapere, Berger Bus Stop (along OPIC – Ibadan Expressway), First gate Junction Agidingbi, Boundary Bus Stop in Ajegunle, Ijora Bus Stop, Mile 2 Oke, Church Bus Stop, Agboju Mile 2 Badagry Expressway), Agric Bus Stop, Mile 2, Abulosu Bus Stop along Mile 2 Badagry Expressway, Apongbon Bus Stop, School Bus Stop, along Mba Mile 2 Road in Ajegunle and Bamboo area along Oworonshoki, Ibadan Expressway.”
Nwosu said that for the the avoidance of doubt, the Lagos Police Command wished to inform all residents and visitors to Lagos State that the claim was false, misleading and only figment of the authors’ imagination.
“The Command wishes to enjoin all residents and visitors to Lagos to ignore the false and misleading information in its entirety and go about their lawful businesses without fear of molestation,” the image maker.
According to him, the Command has stepped up arrangements to secure lives and properties of all Lagosians, residents and visitors alike.
“We have earlier issued a rebuttal to this false alarm on November, 6, 2014, but it appears that the authors of this mischief are all out to create unnecessary panic in the minds of all concerned.”
Nwosu said that while diligent efforts were being made to apprehend the masterminds of this false alarm, “let me assure all Lagosians, residents and visitors that the Command is poised more than ever before to robustly Police all the entire State to ensure that Lagosians and all others who come to Lagos have a crime free yuletide and even beyond.
“Let me also use this opportunity to extend the hearty appreciation of the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Police Command CP C.K. Aderanti to all Lagosians, residents and visitors who have been very supportive of our efforts to ensure a crime free Lagos State.”
