Unity of purpose, Eaglets secret against Uruguay – Ekweremadu

The Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, has said that unity of purpose and togetherness displayed by the Golden Eaglets of Nigeria were the main ingredients that enabled them to beat resilient Uruguay in the quarter-final match of the ongoing U-17 World Cup decided at the 10,877 capacity Sharjah Stadium in the United Arab Emirates.
Ekweremadu, who led a powerful Nigerian delegation that included Nigeria Federal Road Safety Corps Chief Marshall, Ositadinma Benjamin Chidoka, to the venue of the match, was a very happy man after it ended 2-0 in Golden Eaglets favour and the result qualified the Nigerian cadet national team for the semi-finals of the competition.
He said: “I say congratulations to all Nigerians for the wonderful performance of the Golden Eaglets in today’s (yesterday’s) quarter-final match of the ongoing FIFA World Cup here in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates.
“The boys have really done us proud.
“This is clear message to all of us a nation that if we stand together as one, we will always win.
“I believe that we as Nigerians should forget our problems and as much as possible work as a team like this guys because we are one indivisible entity.
“We as leaders need to emulate the togetherness of these young and determined players.
“We don’t need to divide ourselves as North and South or Muslim or Christian but as a united front.
“I am sure if we work as a team we will get to the top as a country.”
