The decision to close the University of Lagos, renamed Moshood Abiola University by President Goodluck Jonathan on Tuesday, has been rescinded.
This followed another round of protest by the students over the announcement of the closure of the school.
The school’s acting Vice Chancellor, Prof. Rahmon Bello, announced the reversal of the closure order when protesting students stormed the Senate Building.
According to a student on the campus, Bello was “forced to address us when it became clear that we were not ready to vacate the campus.”
The students, who had been protesting the renaming of the school since the announcement by Jonathan on Tuesday, have vowed not to relent.
Former students of the school have also opposed the renaming of the school.
They have commenced the compilation of signatures for a petition to Jonathan.
