UNILAG girl’s nude pictures: Police arrest wanted undergraduates

The Lagos State Police Command has finally arrested the duo of Aje Mayowa, 400 level Architecture student, and Babajide Ademuyiwa, 400 level Architecture student, both of the University of Lagos State, Akoka.
The Police have been hunting for the two undergraduates for their involvement in the distribution of a female student’s nude pictures on the internet.
It will be recalled that some days ago, police arrested one Babajide Bashorun, 22, who happened to be a friend of Ademuyiwa.
The said Bashorun, who had been charged to court for assault, rape, indecent exposure and attempted murder, kidnapped an undergraduate of UNILAG for turning down his love advances, raped her and took nude pictures of her, after which he sent the pictures to his friend, Mayowa.
Few days later, the pictures were all over the internet.
The picture had the name and surname of the girl, her university, age, department and course of study.
Before the girl knew what was happening, people were stopping her in the campus to tell her they had seen her nude pictures on the internet.
The tensed situation finally came to a head after her relations overseas saw the pictures and called her parents.
It was gathered that the parents broke down and wept.
According to Bashorun, after he took the snap shots of the girl, he sent them to Mayowa, who sent it to Ademuyiwa. Ademuyiwa made sure the pictures were distributed on the internet.
According to the girl, however, Bashorun kidnapped and raped her with another of his friend before taking pictures of her.
When she had tried to cover her face as he was about to snap the pictures, he had repeatedly beaten her.
A police source said: “On June 24, 2013, Jide was charged to Tinubu Court 5, Lagos lsland. He was charged on six counts: kidnapping, rape, conspiracy, and attempt to commit murder, indecent assault, and assault occasioning harm.
“Jide pleaded not guilty to the charge. He was granted bail with three Sureties, the sum of N250, 000.00 each, with three years tax clearance.”
Since the arrest of Bashorun, the police had been hunting for the duo of Mayowa and Ademuyiwa.
They have been finally arrested.
But both undergraduates denied complicity in the crime.
While Mayowa admitted receiving the nude pictures from Bashorun, he denied sending them to anyone.
According to him, immediately he viewed the pictures, he had deleted them.
Ademuyiwa, on the other hand, insisted he first saw the nude pictures on a tweeter handle.
He said that after viewing the pictures, he had left a comment like several others.
He denied posting the pictures.
But police said that the tweeter handle belonged to Ademuyiwa and was the second of his tweeter accounts.
But the suspect also denied this.
They would soon be charged to court.
