Calm has returned to Tafawa Balewa, Bauchi State, after dreaded sect, Boko Haram, went on rampage this morning, killing at least nine persons.
It was gathered that a military team and detachment of regular and riot police have taken over the streets of Tafawa Balewa.
Sources in the town described the peace that has returned to Tafawa Balewa as “uneasy calm.”
They said this is so because a lot of people are still scared, with some already moving out of the town.
The Chief Press Secretary to Governor Isa Yuguda of Bauchi State, Isola Michael, told the Eagle Online that there was no cause for panic again.
Michael, who said he had just returned from Tafawa Balewa at about 12.40pm when he spoke with our correspondent, said: “The town is now very calm.
“The tension is over. The crisis has died down.
“I have just returned from there and I can say to you that there is no more trouble and nothing to fear as security agents have performed their duties creditably well in bringing the situation under control.”
The Eagle Online gathered that Isola and the Commissioner of Police, Ikechukwu Aduba, are about now addressing the press on the disturbance, the second by Boko Haram in less than 48 hours.
Over 162 persons have been confirmed dead in multiple explosions in Kano on Friday, carried out by the Boko Haram sect.
The commercial city is still crippled as the 24-hour curfew placed on it takes its toll.
Expect more on the Tafawa Balewa crisis as soon as the press conference being addressed by Aduba and Isola is over.
