A 21-year-old undergraduate, Oyinya Ugochukwu, has thrown out through the window a child she delivered while in the toilet.
This was revealed by the Commissioner, Anambra State Police Command, John Abang, when he briefed the press on Friday.
Abang said Ugochukwu, a student of a tertiary institution in Oko area of the state, carried out the act on March 7, 2020 at about 10pm.
He said the Police Surveillance Team attached to Oko Division arrested Ugochukwu, who went to into labour in the toilet, delivered a baby girl and threw the baby through the window and left.
The baby was rescued and rushed to the hospital for urgent medical attention and is presently responding to treatment along with the mother who was equally sick, the CP said.
He added: “However, when questioned on why she abandoned her baby, the suspect claimed she doesn’t know the biological father of the child.”
