As electioneering campaigns heighten across the country, Governor David Umahi of Enonyi State has stated that the actualization of his numerous developmental projects across the State were paramount in his priority than campaigns for his re-election.
Umahi made the statement in Iboko, the headquarters of Izzi Local Government Area, during a mega campaign rally organised in his honour by the people of the area.
He noted that his current local government area tours and rallies were not to campaign per se, but principally to thank Ebonyians in advance for their guaranteed support toward his victory in the forthcoming gubernatorial elections.
He added that he would continue to embark on new projects and effective supervision of on-going ones till the election day, stressing that God who sent him on the mission had already granted him victory.
The Governor, who said he desired to engage all the opposition gubernatorial aspirations in a debate, boasted that he would beat them hands down.
While appreciating the people of Izzi Local Government Area for their support in 2015 in spite of their son who challenged him on the platform of the Labour Party, Umahi assured them that he would never relent in giving them the best infrastructures and government appointments.
He further urged them not to share their votes but to return all the Peoples Democratic Party candidates at all levels come 2019 elections.
Umahi said: “We are not campaigning; we are doing projects and will continue to do projects.
“We do not need to campaign; we are going round to thank the people.
“What I want is for all the gubernatorial candidates to face me in a debate and I will beat them all.
“The good people of Izzi, I am moved by the way you rejected your son and endorsed me in 2015 and are still doing the same.
“I want to thank you and promise to do more for you for when God sends you on a mission, everything will be working well.
“I have given you people the best concrete roads and I would discuss with the Speaker to see how we can fence and modernize your market.”
Umahi seized the occasion to announce the elevation of his former Senior Special Assistant on Health Services, an indegene of the Council area, to the position of a Commissioner.
In their goodwill messages, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Francis Nwifuru; the Chairman, Divine Mandate Campaign Organisation, Fidelis Nwankwo; the State PDP Chairman, Onyekachi Nwebonyi; Izzi Council Chairman, Paul Nwogha; and other stakeholders from the council area appreciated the Governor for favouring the people most in his administration.
They pledged to ensure total victory for Umahi and other PDP candidates in the area, adding that Umahi has proven critics wrong with superlative performance.
The event witnessed unprecedented up surge of innumerable Izzi sons and daughters at home and in diaspora, cultural dances and solidarity march.
Party flags were handed over to the party’s candidates at all levels.
