One of Nigeria’s credible online news medium, Uluru Times, is set to hold its first annual lecture.
According to the Publisher, Wale Adedayo, the annual lecture is targeted at contributing to the growth of Nigeria’s democracy.
Adedayo in a message to his colleagues and friends on Friday, said the lecture series will be “our humble contribution to the growth of Nigeria’s young democracy.”
With the newspaper’s headquarters in Ogun State, Adedayo said it was set to further the contribution of the State to the sustenance of democracy in the country.
He added: “Ogun State remains a pacesetter when it comes to the struggle for democracy in Nigeria, and indeed across Black Africa. We also set the pace in human development with late Chief Obafemi Awolowo’s pioneering efforts to ensure that Education, Healthcare Services, Rural Development and Gainful Employment are readily available to ordinary people.
“Currently, the challenge across board in Nigeria remains Unemployment, Under-Employment and Insecurity. How did we get here should no longer be our lamentation. We must as a matter of urgency push forward solutions if our society is not to continue nurturing a time bomb through thousands of unemployed and unemployable youths around us.
“It is our belief that Unemployment in a clime like ours is a major cause of the many security challenges that we have today. As we work towards solutions, we also believe that honour should be given to some Nigerians, who continue to display professionalism, patriotism and deliberate acts that promote respect for human rights in the course of their assignments. In this regard, we intend to honour former Ogun State Police PRO, SP Adejobi Olumuyiwa, who is now Zone II PRO at the event.
“We deliberately sought out erudite Senator Olorunnimbe Mamora as our Guest Speaker for this year’s event. The masses-loving State of Osun Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, is Chairman of the event taking place in Ijebu Ife, Ogun State on Thursday, 8 September 2016.
“This is an invitation to those of you with a belief that despite the current challenges we have what it takes to bring about a positive turnaround. We’ll be very happy to welcome you to this event.”
