Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan, the All Progressives Congress senatorial candidate in Delta South, has urged his supporters to keep faith in the party despite the sudden postponement of the elections.
Uduaghan gave the advice in a statement issued on Saturday in Warri.
He said: “I received with utmost discontentment and displeasure the news of the postponement by the Independent National Electoral Commission.”
Uduaghan thanked those who in spite of their busy schedules travelled far and near to vote for him.
“I wish to use this opportunity to thank my teeming supporters in Delta South who despite the difficult terrain mobilised to vote me as the senator representing Delta South Senatorial District at the National Assembly.
“I plead with my teeming supporters to be calm, patient, and be more resolute to vote the APC on February 23, and March 9.
“We shall continue to focus on legislative issues that will bring permanent peace, faster, more robust infrastructure and human capital development in Delta South and by extension the Niger Delta.”
The News Agency of Nigeria recalls that the INEC chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu had in the late hours of Friday in Abuja announced the postponement of the elections earlier scheduled for Saturday February 16th and March 2, 2019.
By the postponement, the Presidential and National Assembly will now hold on February 23 while the Governorship and State Houses of Assembly will hold on March 9.
