Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta State on Monday urged children to imbibe the peaceful nature of Jesus Christ while celebrating the Yuletide.
Uduaghan made the call in Asaba at a Christmas party organised for children from the 25 local government areas of the state by his wife, Deaconess Roli.
He said they should conduct themselves peacefully in the joyous Christmas and New Year celebrations.
He told the children that Jesus Christ was the reason for the celebration of Christmas, adding that imbibing his peaceful nature would go a long way in shaping their destinies for the best.
The governor also urged the children to show love to the less privileged ones around them, noting that the message of Christmas was centred on love.
He said: “Jesus Christ is the reason why we are celebrating Christmas today and His life was centred on love and peace.
“This is why it is very important for you as children to emulate the nature of Jesus Christ.”
In her remarks, Roli said the essence of the party was to show the love which Jesus Christ preached while on earth and commended the children for attending the party.
No fewer than 500 children attended the party.
