Uduaghan, Oyinlola, others eulogise Awolowo

Prominent Nigerians who on Friday attended the burial of Chief Oluwole Awolowo heaped encomiums on him for living an outstanding life.
At the burial, which took place in Ikenne-Remo, Ogun State, Awolowo was described as an outstanding Nigerian, whose contributions to national issues would be greatly missed.
Among those who eulogised Awolowo were the Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan; a former Governor of Osun State, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola; and the Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory, Oloye Olajumoke Akinjide.
Akinjide said: “My dear egbon (elder brother) was such a wonderful, kind and gentle soul. He was a truly illustrious gentleman….” Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola: “By this development, Ogun State and indeed Nigeria have been robbed of the valuable services of a thorough bred personality whose contributions to societal development were very remarkable. Chief Awolowo, throughout his sojourn on earth, demonstrated the virtues of honesty, sincerity of purpose and commitment to his chosen goals and agenda.’ Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State: “His death is a blow to the entire Awolowo political dynasty, the South West and Nigeria as a whole. Until he breathed his last, he proved he was a successful businessman, administrator and leader of people. Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta State: “This is a big loss not just to the Awolowo family but to the rest of Nigeria. Chief Oluwole Awolowo contributed to the development of the land, even from the grass rooots of being a councillor, then a House of Assembly member. As a newspaper publisher, he was very outstanding.”
