Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice to become Real Madrid’s joint-leading scorer in club history, as his side eased past 10-man Malmo 2-0 in their Champions League clash.
The visitors controlled possession early on, but Malmo were threatening on the break, as Anton Tinnerholm and Markus Rosenberg both tested Real Madrid keeper Keylor Navas.
Ronaldo forced two first-half saves from Johan Wiland in the Malmo goal before finding the net on 29 minutes, as a quick counter-attack saw Isco thread a pass through to the Madrid talisman, who placed his shot into the corner of the net.
Madrid full-back Dani Carvajal almost doubled his side’s lead before half time, but the Spanish international’s volley from a tight angle struck the crossbar.
