Atalanta ran out 4-1 winners over Spanish side Valencia in the first leg of their Champions League tie.
The Italians will take their three-goal advantage to the Mestalla for the return leg courtesy of two goals from Hans Hateboer, and one each from Josip Ilicic and Remo Freuler.
Denis Cheryshev gave Valencia consolatory away goal on 66 minutes, but they look out of the tie at this stage.
