The Managing Director of Capital Oil and Gas Limited, Ifeanyi Uba, has secured the approval of the court against further arrest by the police.
The court also awarded him N10 million damages for his initial detention by the Special Fraud Unit of the Nigeria Police.
A Federal High Court siting in Lagos State took these positions on Monday in a suit brought before it by Uba against the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar.
Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke also granted an order of perpetual injunction restraining the police, either acting by themselves or their privies, from harassing, detaining or infringing on the fundamental rights of the applicant.
Ubah filed the suit on January 10, 2013 through his counsel, Ajibola Oluyede.
Others joined in the suit by Uba were the Commissioner of Police, Special Fraud Unit, Ayotunde Ogunsakin; the Managing Director of Access Bank, Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede; and the Managing Director, Coscharis Motors, Cosmas Maduka.
Ubah had gone to court seeking an order to set aside an interim report by Ogunsakin on November 2, 2012, which indicted him of money laundering and criminal conspiracy.
