Two policemen attached to the Rivers State Command have been killed by armed robbers in Port Harcourt, the state capital.
They were killed on Monday when armed gunmen attacked the bullion van they were escorting.
The gunmen escaped with the money being escorted and also made away with the rifles of the policemen, whom they shot at close range.
The policemen were said to be in a Toyota Camry saloon car.
The spokesman of the Rivers State Police Command, Deputy Superintendent of Police Nnamdi Omoni, confirmed the incident.
Omoni said the Command’s Commissioner, Usman Belel, had ordered detailed investigation into the robbery.
