The Federal Road Safety Corps in Kwara State on Monday said two persons died in seven different road crashes during the last Eid-el Fitri celebration in the state.
The Kwara State Sector Commander of the FRSC, Sunday Maku, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in llorin.
Maku said the seven accidents, which occurred in different parts of the state during the Sallah celebration, involved 38 persons among whom nine sustained injuries.
Maku said the Special Marshals on patrol during the period conveyed the dead bodies to the mortuary, while the injured were taken to the hospitals.
The FRSC Commander also revealed that 129 motorists were arrested for violating various traffic offences during the period.
He said a total of 137 traffic offences were violated by the offenders, while 60 vehicles were impounded.
Maku reaffirmed the commitment of the commission to ensuring that there was sanity on the roads in all parts of the state.
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in the state, however, said it recorded a crime-free Eid-el Fitri celebration.
The Commandant of the Corps in Kwara State, Pedro Ideba, stated this in llorin on Monday in an interview with NAN.
The Commandant attributed the low number of worshippers at the llorin Eid praying ground to the heavy security presence.
He said the corps did not record any arrest since the celebration was violence-free.
