Two drivers: Success Izioma and Eric Asiku, on Tuesday appeared before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State for allegedly stealing 600 bags of flour worth N9.4 million.
Izioma, 41, and Asiku, 31, were charged with conspiracy, stealing and obtaining money under false pretences.
The duo, whose residential addresses were not provided, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The prosecutor, ASP Rachael Williams, alleged that they stole the bags of flour they were to deliver to Kaya Africa.
Williams said that Kaya Africa paid the drivers N385,000 for the delivery.
She told the court that the defendants committed the offences sometime in September 2021, adding that they carried the flour from Apapa, Lagos State.
The alleged offences contravene Sections 287, 314 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State.
The Magistrate, T.O. Fashanu, admitted each of the defendants to bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Fashanu ordered that the sureties must be gainfully employed and have evidence of two years tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
The Magistrate adjourned the case until February 7 for mention.
