President Donald Trump has fired the acting US Attorney General, Sally Yates.
Yates was relieved of her job on Monday night for opposing Trump’s controversial travel ban.
This comes amid growing protests against the restrictions from business leaders and demonstrators and intervention from former President Barack Obama.
A statement by the White House said Yates had “betrayed the Department of Justice by refusing to enforce a legal order designed to protect the citizens of the United States”.
