The Kaduna State Government says troops of “Operation Safe Haven” have averted an attack on Magamiya village of Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of the State.
The Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, confirmed the development in a statement.
Aruwan in the statement on Wednesday in Kaduna said one suspect was arrested.
“Troops of Operation Safe Haven have reported to the Kaduna State Government that an attack was averted in Magamiya village of Zangon Kataf LGA,” said Aruwan.
According to him, gunmen invaded some fields in the village, shooting sporadically.
Aruwan said: “Troops responded to a distress call, mobilized to the village, and engaged the assailants, successfully repelling them.
“One of the attackers was arrested by the troops and is in custody for interrogation and further investigation.”
Aruwan said a resident was hit on his left arm by a stray bullet during the attempted attack, adding that the affected person was in stable condition and receiving medical attention.
The Commissioner said upon receipt of the report, Governor Nasir El-Rufai thanked the troops and commended their alertness in averting the attack.
The governor also wished the injured resident, quick recovery, and urged security agencies to ensure thorough investigation.
