The trial of Akolade Arowolo, who was accused of murdering his wife, Titilayo, a banker, was, again, stalled on Tuesday.
The stalling of the trial was as a result of the absence of a defence witness.
Arowolo, 30, is facing a one count charge of murder before Justice Lateefat Okunnu of a Lagos High Court in Ikeja.
He was accused of stabbing his wife to death on June, 24, 2011.
The defense counsel, Olanrewaju Ajanaku, who was expected to call his second witness, said the witness was absent.
Ajanaku said: “We don’t have our witness in court.
“The lady is actually down with malaria and it is on that basis that we are asking for an adjournment.”
The prosecutor, Mosunola Balogun, said Ajanaku informed him before the sitting of the development.
Justice Okunnu was not happy with the development, saying: “If one witness is not available, the next one must be prepared in order not to waste the trial dates already fixed by the court.”
She then adjourned to January 22 for continuation of trial.
