The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in Jigawa State on Wednesday confirmed that an 80-year-old woman, Yakinini Musa, was crushed to death by a moving train.
The state Commandant of the NSCDC, Muhammad Gidado, confirmed the death to the News Agency of Nigeria in Dutse.
Gidado said the woman, from Karidu village in Birniwa Local Government Area of Jigawa State, was crushed to death by the train while crossing the rail line around 4pm on Tuesday.
According to him, the remains of the woman has since been buried in line with Islamic tradition.
He advised people to always be extra careful when crossing roads or rail lines.
