A man was killed on Friday when an articulated vehicle rammed into the Eleyele Roundabout in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
The driver of the trailer, marked ST 178 BDG, lost control of the vehicle, following a brake failure, thereby crushing the man and injuring another.
Confirming the story, Godwin Ogagaoghene, the Oyo State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission, said that the accident happened around 12pm.
Ogagaoghene said: “The accident was caused by brake failure.
“The driver lost control and rammed into the roundabout.
“The body of the dead person has been taken to the mortuary while the injured person is receiving treatment in a state hospital.”
Ogagaoghene said vehicle owners should ensure the proper maintenance of their vehicles.
He also urged traders to avoid displaying their wares too close to the road.
