The Plateau State Police Command on Friday in Jos paraded a 36-year-old trader for cutting off the two fingers of his nine-year-old daughter, who he accused of stealing N1,500.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Nasiru Oki, who paraded the suspect, said that he cut off his daughter’s fingers even after she denied the allegation.
According to the commissioner, the severed fingers have been recovered and would be used as exhibit.
He said that the girl was treated at Ola Hospital in Jos.
“The suspect has confessed to the crime and will soon appear in court after we have completed our investigations,” Oki said.
The trader told the News Agency of Nigeria that he acted under the influence of alcohol.
He pleaded with his daughter and family for forgiveness and promised not to repeat such act.
