The Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps of Ogun State has issued a traffic advisory to those wishing to use the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway during the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
The Corps said the advisory became necessary because of the numerous programs that would be holding on and off the ever-busy expressway in addition to the increase in vehicular traffic occasioned by the Sallah celebration.
The advisory, signed by the spokesman of the Corps, Babatunde Akinbiyi, said: “As Muslim faithfuls celebrate Eid-el-Kabir on Friday,1st September 2017, TRACE Corps reminds the motoring public that the Holy Ghost Service of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, also comes up on Friday, 1st September 2017, while the Power Must Change Hands of Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries comes up on Saturday, 2nd September, 2017.
“Worthy of note as well, is the Ojude-Oba Festival at Ijebu-Ode, which comes up on Sunday, 3rd September, 2017.
“The coincidence of these Celebrations and Religious Programmes suggests an increase in the volume of human and vehicular traffic, especially along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, with its attendant traffic challenges.
“In this regard, motorists plying the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, but who are not attending the aforementioned Religious Programmes and are in haste, are adviced to please make use of the following alternative routes:
* Sango Ota-Ifo-Abeokuta-Sagamu/Interchange-Ijebu/Ode-Benin/Ore Expressway.
* Victoria Island-Lekki-Epe-Ijebu/Ode-Benin/Ore Expressway.
* Ikorodu-Itoikin-Benin/Ore Expressway.
* Mowe Ofada-Sagamu/Interchange-Ijebu/Ode-Benin/Ore Expressway.”
