Galatasaray are expected to face stiff competition in their reported bid to sign John Obi Mikel as Turkish rivals, Trabzonspor, are believed to have entered the race for the Nigerian.
Mikel’s tenure at Stamford Bridge has been thrown into doubt following the return of Jose Mourinho as manager, with the Super Eagles playmaker himself admitting he is unsure of where his future lies.
The 26-year-old still has four years remaining on his deal in West London, although Mourinho could be convinced to let him move on as he looks to continue his off-season strengthening, having already re-enforced his midfield following the signing of Marco van Ginkel.
Gala had been strongly tipped as a likely destination for Mikel, although the Superlig giants are now believed to be facing competition from Trabzonspor after reports claim the club have made an enquiry over the midfielder’s availability.
