Reports on Monday has it that a top member of dreaded sect, Boko Haram, was killed by the Joint Task Force in Kano, Kano State, while two others were arrested.
Though unconfirmed officially, the top member reportedly killed by the JFT was the sect’s spokesperson, Abu Qaqa.
The JTF was said to have stormed one of the hideouts of the sect in Hotoro Quarters, Kano, where the top members of the group were reportedly meeting.
The operation by the JTF was said to have lasted for less than an hour.
Confirming the development, the spokesman of the JTF in Kano State, Lieutenant Ikediche Iweha, said: “We carried out a raid this morning around Hotoro general area where we killed a member of a terrorist group and arrested two during the operation.”
Iweha would, however, not confirm the identity of the dead Boko Haram member.
He said: “We don’t have their nominal roll and cannot say who was killed and arrested but investigation would certainly revealed their identity.”
Earlier in the year, reports also had it that Qaqa was killed but that has since been debunked by the sect.
