The Ogun State Police Command has arrested 28-year-old Wisdom Umanah along with his alleged partners in crime identified as Nwoke Chukwu Ebuka, 24, and Chigozie Ekuma, 30.
They were arrested for vandalism and theft of a 33KVA cable, believed to be property of Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company.
Umanah was first arrested and then used as bait to catch Ebuka and Ekuma.
According to a police situation report, on September 19, 2024 at about 8am, the Police Division at Ode-Lemo town, via Sagamu in Ogun State received information that some groups of commercial motorcycle riders accosted a tricycle loaded with five sacks covered with cassava leaves.
The cyclists, suspicious of the tricycle rider, took a closer look at his load and discovered that it was a vandalised 33KVA cable belonging to IBEDC, but the monetary value is yet unknown.
The Police SITREP further stated: “Upon receipt of the report, the anti-robbery team raced to the scene and arrested one wisdom Umanah, 28, of Sabo Sagamu Ogun State with the property to base.
“The scene of the crime was visited and further investigation led to the arrest of Nwoke Chukwu Ebuka, 24, and Chigozie Ekuma, 30, both of Ewu Oliwo area.

“They all confessed to the crime and are now under detention.
“Efforts are on to arrest others involved in the case.”
It was further mentioned that the suspect would be charged in court after further discreet investigation.
The spokesperson of the Command, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the arrest to The Eagle Online.
Odutola, a Superintendent of Police, said the state would remain hot for criminals.
