No fewer than three persons were confirmed dead on Saturday night in an explosion that rocked Jos, the Plateau State capital.
The explosion occurred on Bauchi Road, close to the staff quarters of the University of Jos.
The Plateau State Commissioner of Police, Chris Olakpe, gave the figures on Saturday night.
Olakpe also said that three persons were injured.
However, owing to the conservative nature of Olakpe in releasing figures to the media, there are fears that the figure could be far higher.
On Tuesday when a twin explosion rocked the Terminus Market in Jos, Olakpe put the figure of the dead at 76, whereas the National Emergency Management Agency said no fewer than 118 persons were killed.
The suicide bomber was one of those killed in Saturday’s explosion.
He was believed to be heading towards a television viewing centre where fans were watching the UEFA Champions League final between Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid, which Real won 4-1.
The viewing centre was said to be a few metres away from where the explosion occurred.
Olakpe, who confirmed that the suicide bomber died, said: “So far we have three dead, three injured.”
